Coronary Calcium Scoring CT

A Coronary Calcium Scoring CT exam is used to detect the presence or absence of calcium in the walls of the coronary (heart) arteries. These specks of calcium are called calcifications. Calcifications in the coronary arteries may be an early sign of coronary artery disease.   Over time, these calcified plaques may harden or rupture. Hardened plaque narrows the coronary arteries and reduces the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart.  Using state-of-the-art, high-speed CT scanners, San Diego Imaging provides Coronary Calcium Scoring CT images that carefully look inside the heart and its arteries for calcium build-up.
